Trade Winds Therapy & Relationship Coaching is committed to continue bringing you and your family value through our services, workshops, and groups. This year, we have an especially exciting addition: a new therapist for our team! Please welcome Garrett Hooper.
Hello there, let me introduce myself! My name is Garrett Hooper and I am a recent graduate of Regis University’s with a Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am so excited to start my career as a therapist. Becoming a therapist has been a lifetime goal of mine. I believe that having healthy intrapersonal, interpersonal, and environmental relationships are the most important factors in living well.
After graduating with a Bachelors of Arts from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado I was lucky enough to combine several of my passions when I was hired to work at a wilderness therapy program. The long days and weeks spent living outside with a group of loving and supportive therapy field guides and our students was incredible. I have been fortunate to witness and facilitate life changing experiences for young men and young adults. The time I spent living in the wilderness guiding adolescents through transformational personal journeys in a supportive group setting proved to be monumental in my development as a man and as a therapist. I love my connection to the natural world and I hope to bring this passion into moments with anyone I get the privilege of working with as a therapist. I love how building awareness of our here and now experience creates new openings into our ability to successfully learn how to cope with whatever obstacle we may be working through. I look forward to being able to help people develop awareness around how to best support themselves and their family in solving problems.
I am set to begin a Gestalt Therapy Training at the Gestalt Institute of the Rockies in February and I cannot wait to incorporate that training into the here and now with my clients. Gestalt Therapy values the relationship between the therapist and client while focusing on increasing awareness of what is being experienced in the present moment. This year I hope to build my reputation, skills, and effectiveness as a therapist. I believe that the therapeutic relationship with my clients is the number one factor in successful outcomes. I promise I will be focused on building strong therapeutic relationships above all else and am focused on doing what is best for my clients. My ideal clients are adolescents and their families but know I can bring value to anyone needing some relational support. Let’s get to work!
